Kayla

Duckpin Tollers was really started when we brought home our first Toller Kayla. Kayla (Blue Sacs Falls River Kelpie CGC) was an amazing little Toller who was sent to me with a very important but heart breaking mission – to teach me how to be the best breeder I can be. Kayla was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease at the age of 15 weeks. She never let her disease slow her down until the very end. She obtained her CGC at just 5.5 months old was an active therapy dog, and had one leg on her CD when we had to make the decision to put her down at 19 months. We at Duckpin miss that little red dog dearly and feel very honored we got to have 17 months with her. Not a day goes by when we don’t think of her and I promised her I would never let her die in vain, and we won’t.
The US Toller club is now involved with two separate Addison’s disease studies. If you own a Toller, even if it is not affected by Addison’s, please participate in the studies. If your Toller is affected or is related to an affected dog, it is even more important to participate. Since Kayla died in 2000 her blood work is not available, please do it for Kayla.
